Curious what trading platform you all use and why?

I use interactive brokers as a broker. Super cheap commisions with virtually no slippage. But horrible charts. So I purchased metastock. The best charting software on the planet in my opinion. Stay away from scottrade and etrade

I have been using optionsexpress.com.  Great for starters and I like to trade the stock or ETF options.  OX is great for that but the fees are high.  I heard interactive brokers is a little complicated to get started with and to get used to using.  I might just bite the bullet and try it.

No, this is just for charts, quotes, and alarms for cross overs, etc.

The basic version has no cost for beginners http://www.freestockcharts.com.

Tc2000 has brokerage services now. 2 dollar commisions plus .05 per share ie 2.50 for 100 shares. I would use them but they don't do futures or no access to the European markets. Tc2000brokerage.com

I'm a little late to this conversation, but I use Merrill Edge. If you have at least 20K or more in your BofA account or Merrill Edge account or split between the two, your first 30 trades are free each month. It's fairly simple and has good tools. As with any brokerage, there are a few drawbacks, but I like them so far.
You can easily judge the character of a man by how he treats those who can do nothing for him.

A couple of generations ago I worked for Dean Witter in Manhattan, Oppenheimer before that. A big day on the Dow was 10 million. We physically wrote our trade tickets and they were wired to Wall Street where we had reps on the floor. Executions were always a crap shoot but DW had a great reputation. After a couple of career changes I settled on Fidelity Stock Trader Pro to execute my trades. We have had a few disagreements over the years but I have found no broker doing a better job.
